Visit to a Romanian school:
Today Will, Charlie, and Kay flew back to Bucharest in route home, but before they left they had the opportunity to visit a Romanian school thanks to Alex Gulei from Alternative Sociale. His aunt teaches there. The boys were impressed! The children immediately surrounded them and began trying out their English. They class presented W & C with several gifts, including some materials they are using to learn English. They exchanged email addresses and, I hope, will be able to establish an exchange between Brentwood and Romania.
Meanwhile, I was off giving a lecture on the American judicial process. As I explained to the class, arguing to a jury is much like putting on a play. The students here are receptive and interested, and I appreciate the enthusiasm they show. I also put together a survey today (thanks to Madeleine Crohn and Joy Ashton for their help) that will be distributed to judges in Iasi regarding their ideas about judicial leadership and other key issues.
I STILL have yet to meet any Americans in Iasi. The only ones I have met were when I took the plane here from Bucharest. They were coming to Iasi to work with an organization that assists street children. If anyone reading this blog knows of any others, LET ME KNOW!
